Tentative Agenda/Schedule for Eel River Field Trip

Friday:

9:00 AM Leave CPS - we will probably stop in Healdsburg or that vicinity for food and restrooms, so we'll plan 4 hours for the trip.

1:00 PM Arrive at Angelo Reserve

1:00 - 2:00 Unpack, look around, get settled, etc.

2:00 - 4:00 Orientation Hike - we will hike on a trail that goes through a variety of different habitat types, with stops to discuss watersheds, basic river ecology, major vegetation types, etc.

4:00 - 6:00 Free time

6:00-7:00 Cook dinner (those who don't help in preparation will do clean up)

7:00 - 8:00 Eat dinner/clean up

8:00 - 9:00 Group Discussion around the fire.

9:00 - 11:00 Movie Time! (optional of course) I am bringing "A River Runs Through It" and "Blood Diamond" - other suggestions? Feel free to use this time for homework if you need to.

 

Saturday:

8:00 - 11:00: Make breakfast in small groups as you get up.Clean up after yourselves. Free time until 11 after that - that lets people who want to sleep late have the option.Pack food for lunch.

11:00 - 4:00: Measurements of stream chemistry and biodiversity: small groups collect data on various aspects of the watershed.

4:00 - 6:00 Free time

6:00 - 8:00 Cook/eat/clean-up

After dinner:

Group discussion around fire

Optional: another movie, free time if you prefer.

 

Sunday:

8:00 - 10:00 Same as Saturday, just earlier start

10:00 - 2:00 Hike to 10-mile Creek/swim/learn plants and animals/chat

2:00 - 4:00 Clean Fox Creek Lodge and pack vans. Free time if that is done.

4:00 - depart for CPS. We'll stop for dinner on the way.

9:00 - return to CPS
